Comment
Timothy Dalton tries to organise the defection of a Russian General (Jeroen Krabbe) but it goes wrong and a female cello player (Maryam d'Abo) is a Russian sniper sent to kill the general. His adventures then leads him to an arms dealer (Joe Don Baker) in Afghanistan. This film marks the return of the Aston Martin to a James Bond film and also a story line for James Bond to work with. Timothy Dalton brought a harder edge to James Bond compared to Roger Moore's version. This is uneven, but does have some good scenes including the attack with the exploding milk bottles and skiing down a mountain on a cello case. Also interesting from an historical perspective as part is set in Afghanistan during the Russian occupation.
